Supporting Research Our Advisory Team studied "Learning To Improve" by Anthony Bryk and others, using it as a foundation for much of our work. It is our sincere hope that the Literacy Learning Network will drive systemic literacy improvement in Wayne County, in much the same way that this text is seen as a powerful driver of improvement in schools. In this article, Dr. Bryk explains the research on school improvement. Research that indicates improving elementary schools requires coherent, and orchestrated action. The MAISA GELN Essential School-Wide and Center-Wide Practices in Literacy are designed to increase Michigan’s capacity to improve children’s literacy by identifying systematic and effective practices that can be implemented at the organizational level in educational and care settings that serve young children. In the Fall of 2017, Dr. Duke shared what leading for literacy truly entails. Dr. Bryk's work provides a new paradigm for research and development in education. These videos provide clarification and learning as it relates to Dr. Bryk's book "Learning to Improve: How our social institutions can get better at getting better".
